Abstract

This research analyses how Learning Theories are represented in Spanish, French and North American movies, studying how the recent historical evolution of the didactic models has influenced its representation. In order to do so, all teaching scenes from 12 movies released or set in the highlights of recent History were examined. According to our results, cinema accurately represents the historic evolution of Learning Theories, as long as educational systems are the main feature of the movies. It is worth noting Social Development Theory is not exclusive of modern teachers, but also it is easy to found it represented in several historic moments as an example of “good teachers”.
