Abstract

The Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS), promoted by the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development), is an international, large-scale survey by teachers, school leaders and the learning environment in schools.

TALIS uses questionnaires administered to teachers and their school principals to gather data. The main goal is to generate relevant information to develope and implement policies focused on school leaders, teachers and teaching, emphasizing those issues related to student learning.

This survey took place in 48 countries and economies all over the world. In Spain, it involved 7.047 teachers and 396 school principals from 843 public and private schools.

A remarkable detail in TALIS 2018 Spain is that our country has participated for the first time in the Primary Education results (ISCED1) and not only in lower Secondary ones (ISCED 2). In addition to this, seven Autonomous Communities have extended the sample of the study to both educational stages: Asturias, Cantabria, Castilla y León, Cataluña, Comunidad de Madrid, Comunidad Valenciana and La Rioja.
